Part-Time Consultant: Technical Color Advisor, Scaled Decor Sector (Hardline, Furniture + Interiors)

ABOUT THE ROLE 
Lingrove is seeking a Technical Color Advisor to advise our team on developing colors and textures for our current and new product portfolios. This includes expertise in sourcing and using pigments. 

Lingrove’s Color Advisor is highly valued within the Lingrove organization and plays a leading role in the design, brand, retail, and marketing of our products. It is a true collaboration amongst our product, engineering, marketing, sales, and executive teams. 

As a Color Advisor, you will be part of the Product/Engineering Team. This role supports the goals of the business by delivering the technical workstream on multiple projects. This position will work with the cross-functional aspects of the business and translate customer requirements into product attributes.

Please note: This position is an advisory role and will collaborate directly with our pigment, product, and engineering team members. The role does not require being physically present in the San Francisco workshop, however, the ability to travel is necessary (15%). 

 

Key Activities/Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advisory to realize specific color and texture objectives in the Lingrove product roadmap,  through expertise in the application of pigments, dyes and pigment dispersions etc.

  • Advise and de-risk coloration systems that scale to quality and consistency in the manufacturing setting

  • Provide specific, direct technical assistance & recommendations to the product team for 

    • Color standard setting

    • Color matching

    • Equipment selection and use to drive accuracy and consistency

    • Documentation of color standards

    • Procurement of color and pigmentation

    • Establish color QC/QA program

  • (Preferred but not required) CMF trend consultation / related connections

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in coloration systems for hardline (home, commercial, or FF&A. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, Color, and Material Design, a plus.

  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects

  • Exceptional attention to detail 

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced start-up environment

  • Eager mentor and capable educator, driven to spread methodological understanding throughout the broader team and organization

Skills

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration

  • Successful track record of working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  • Knowledge of Google Suite required 

  • Proficiency with design tools, software, and prototyping methods a plus.

  • Ability to develop standard operating procedures

  • Highly organized
